General settings required for Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) clients at TTU
The following are the general settings required to connect to a remote computer using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) at TTU:
Connection name: Any descriptive name you wish (e.g. My Work PC)
PC name (Computer name): The full computer name of the remote PC to which you wish to connect
Gateway: rdp.ttu.edu
Username: ttu\your_eRaider_username
Password: your_eRaider_password

1) Ensure that the remote computer is powered on and is configured to accept incoming connections:
2) Click your Start button.
3) In the search bar, type "remote desktop connection", but do not press Enter. In the list of search results, click Remote Desktop Connection.
4) In the "Computer" field, type the host name or IP address of the computer to which you wish to connect. Then, click the Show Options button.
5) From the Advanced tab, click Settings.
6) Choose "Use these RD Gateway server settings." Then, configure the following settings and click OK.
• Server name: rdp.ttu.edu
• Logon method: Allow me to select later
7) Click Connect.
8) Use your TechMail address as the username. Use your eRaider password as the password. Then, click OK.
If you do not have a TechMail account, type your username in the format your_eRaider_username@ttu.edu (e.g., jdoe@ttu.edu).
OUTCOME
You are connected to the remote computer.
WINDOWS 10
How to: Use Remote Desktop Connection in Windows 10
to access a remote Windows computer
Details:
1) Click your Start Button and type "remote desktop" into the search field at the bottom. Do not press Enter. In the search results list at the top of the Start Menu, click Remote Desktop Connection.
2) In the "Computer" field, type the host name or IP address of the computer to which you wish to connect. Then, click the Show Options button.
3) Under the Advanced tab, click the Settings button.
4) Choose "Use these RD Gateway server settings". Then, configure the settings as follows and click OK.
Server name: rdp.ttu.edu
Logon method: Allow me to select later
5) Click Connect.
6) Type your username in the format ttu\your_eRaider_username. Use your eRaider password as the password. Then, click OK.
OUTCOME
You will be connected to the remote computer.
MAC OSX
Introduction
Click Add Desktop. Type anything as the "Friendly name" and put your remote PC name in the "PC name" field. Complete the "Username" and "Password" fields, then configure the Gateway with the server as rdp.ttu.edu. Username and password in the gateway portion are not required.
Instructions
These instructions assume that you have already installed Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac
1) Open Microsoft Remote Desktop from your Applications folder, Dock, or Launchpad.
2) At the top of the window, click the plus button (+) and choose Add PC.
3) Configure the following information.
PC name: the DNS name of the remote computer to which you wish to connect (e.g., somepc.ttu.edu)
Friendly name: any descriptive name that you wish (e.g., My work PC)
4) Next to "User account", click the drop-down menu and choose your existing user account if it's already set up. Then, skip to Step 6. If your user account wasn't set up already, click Add User Account.
5) Configure the following information and click Add.
Username: your_TechMail_address (e.g., jane.doe@ttu.edu)
Password: your_eRaider_password
Friendly name: optionally type any descriptive name that you wish (e.g., My TTU account)
6) Next to "Gateway", click the drop-down menu and choose the TTU RDP Gateway if it's already set up. Then, skip to Step 8. If the gateway wasn't set up already, click Add Gateway.
7) Configure the following information and click Add.
Gateway name: rdp.ttu.edu
Friendly name: any descriptive name that you wish (e.g., TTU RDP Gateway)
User account: Use PC User Account (recommended) or pick your TTU account
8) Click Add.
OUTCOME
The connection profile has been configured on your Mac. You may use it to connect to the remote Windows computer.
APPLE iOS
Instructions
1) Open the RD Client app.
2) In the upper right-hand corner, tap the plus sign (+).
3) Tap Add PC.
4) Tap PC Name.
5) Type the exact name of the remote computer to which you will be connecting (e.g., mypcname.ttu.edu). Then, tap the back button in the top left-hand corner.

6) Tap User Account.
7) Tap Add User Account.
8) Type your TechMail address as the username and your eRaider password as the password. Then, tap Save.
NOTE: If you don't have a TechMail account, you can type your username in the format your_eRaider_username@ttu.edu (e.g., jdoe@ttu.edu).
TIP: You will need to update your saved password in this app each time you change your eRaider password at https://eraider.ttu.edu.
9) In the top left-hand corner, tap the back button.
10) Tap Friendly Name.
11) Type a name to refer to this connection. Then, tap the back button.
12) Tap No Gateway Configured.
13) Tap Add Gateway.
14) Tap Gateway Name.
15) Type rdp.ttu.edu. Then, tap the back button.
16) Tap User Account.
17) Choose which account you wish to use for connecting to the RDP Gateway. Then, tap the back button.
18) Tap Save.
19) Tap the back button.
20) Tap Save.
OUTCOME
The connection profile has been configured on your device. You may use it to connect to the remote Windows computer.
Instructions for Connecting
1) Ensure that the remote computer is powered on and is configured to accept incoming connections:
2) Before you can connect to a remote computer, you must first set up a connection profile on your mobile device.
3) Open the RD Client app.
4) From the list of configured connections, tap the connection that you wish to use.
OUTCOME
Your iPhone or iPad will attempt to connect to the remote computer. When the connection is successful, you will see the remote desktop.

Instructions
1) Open the RD Client app.

OUTCOME
The remote desktop profile has been configured on your Android device, and you will now be able to establish connection.
CONNECTING TO REMOTE DESKTOP USING ANDROID
Instructions
NOTE: Before attempting to connect to the remote computer, please ensure that you have set up a Remote Desktop Connection profile on your Android device.
1) Verify that the remote computer is powered on and is configured to accept incoming connections:

3) Tap the remote connection that you wish to use.
OUTCOME
Your Android device will connect to the remote computer.
If the connection is successful, you will see the remote desktop.
